The Mayors and Chairs Commission on Homelessness was established to address the issue of homelessness not only in our community but in the entire region. The cities of Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson, and Williamsburg and James City and York Counties worked together to develop a plan that would build a solid foundation to strengthen our communities so that in ten years, all individuals and families facing homelessness on the Virginia Peninsula will have access to safe, decent and affordable housing and the resources and support necessary to sustain that housing.

The Virginia Peninsula Regional Plan to End Homelessness 2009-2019
